The Springfield Tea Room is a quietly charming cafe nestled in the rural outskirts of Springfield, Tasmania. With its location on Ten Mile Track, it offers a down-to-earth spot for locals and visitors to gather over simple, hearty fare and home-style teas. This is not a quick grab-and-go kind of place but more a destination to settle in, enjoy the casual country pace, and soak in a connection with the land and community.

The atmosphere here is relaxed and family-friendly, with plenty of open space for children to explore and interact with the resident goats and baby chickens. The sense of place is grounded in a small, close-knit community vibe, partly shaped by the nearby Amish influences and the onsite gardens, which contribute fresh produce used in many dishes. If you're interested in small-scale sustainable farming or local craft, a stroll around the gardens adds a meaningful context to the food on your plate.

The menu leans into comforting, rustic dishes that reflect local tastes and seasonal availability—think pumpkin soup, a robust curried rabbit pie, and classic meat pies alongside generous serves of scones paired with Devonshire tea. Vegetarian options such as lentil rissoles and fresh garden salads ensure there’s something for varied diets. The portions tend to be generous, making it a satisfying stop for a light lunch or afternoon tea, especially when paired with their creamy chocolate drinks or fresh milkshakes.

This cafe suits those who appreciate a slower pace—mornings or early afternoons on sunny days are ideal for visiting, when garden views and fresh air complement the quiet hum of friendly conversation. It’s a spot where locals come for affordable, homemade-style food and a welcoming environment, perfect for families or anyone looking for a break from more commercialized eateries. Note that payment is cash only, which keeps with the straightforward, low-tech charm of the place.

Springfield Tea Room’s appeal lies in its simplicity and sincerity—a place to recharge with honest food, connect with a small farming community, and enjoy the gentle rhythms of life tucked away on a quiet Tasmanian track.

Such a cozy and family friendly experience. Super affordable food and drink, clean, friendly, very tasty, and they have bucketloads of fresh affordable berries come summer. The kids also love saying hi to the goats and the baby chickens when they can.

Amazing Scones, the cream was just so light and perfect. The have a pretty broad menu and very vegetarian friendly as well. Portions are really big, I just had one serving of the pumpkin soup, scones and a milk shake and that filled me up completely. A friend had the Lentil rissoles, which were really great as well. They also sell a vast variety of biscuits and jams etc. Definitely worth a stop!

This place is awesome. The food is amazing and all made fresh on site. The garden is out of this world with produce that looks great and tastes even better. The people working there are super friendly and ready to answer any questions about how they work the land. If you are an arts and crafts person, this is also a must-visit location.

Lovely little tea room for light refreshments and an insight into a small Amish community in the heart of Tasmania.

Delicious food, we had tomato soup & the curried rabbit pie with the chillied tomato sauce. Paid a little extra to walk around the gardens! Bought takeaway apple & raspberry pie and relish. Cash only no card facilities.

I finally got to these tearooms today and the lady who served us was lovely. I had pumpkin soup, apple pie and an iced coffee. Everything was great, but the apple pie in particular was delicious as it was light and beautifully flavoured and served with lovely fresh cream. I also bought some jams, honey, honey biscuits and comfrey cream to take with me and I'm eating a honey biscuit now which is divine. Don't forget the tea room is cash only and open Tues - Sat.

Made a visit on our roadtrip around Tassie and it did not disappoint. Had the tomato soup, cinnamon scrolls, tea, and scones with jam and cream. Very affordable prices but remember to bring cash as it is cash only. The best scones I've ever had! The ladies in the tea room were lovely as well. They have lots of sweets ready to go, as well as tea, soap, fabric etc.
